Bed and breakfast
This little alleyway off the Rue du Chêne, just downhill from the Place de la Vielle Halle aux Blés, rejoices in the pretty name of "Rose Valley". Today it is home to a few houses, some artists' studios and an art gallery. At the dead-end of the alley is a trompe l'oeil mural which arouses the curiosity of passers-by and invites them to wander down the alley. It is here that Catherine and Sophie decided to open their B&B. On the first floor of this huge nineteenth-century building, a long corridor leads to three guest bedrooms named after roses (of course!) and pieces of music (for the Royal Conservatory of Music is nearby). Rose-red for the "Sarabande" room, rose-pink for the "Madama Butterfly" room and rose-white for the "Boléro" room. On the second floor are three more guest bedrooms, the "Mediterranean", "Atlantic" and "pacific" rooms whose decorations recall the long voyages in sailing ships around the world that Catherine and Sophie did with their husbands. On each floor is a large "self-service" kitchen-cum-dining-room, where guests can help themselves to breakfast. Everything required is in the fridge and fresh bread is delivered each morning. It is also possible to rent one, two or three-bedroomed apartments with a private kitchen. A pretty and friendly place with the advantage of being situated right at the heart of the city centre.
