Bed and breakfast
"Escandihado" is a Provençal dialect word meaning a patch of blue sky on a cloudy day: here it is also the name of an ochre-facaded house in this little Namurois village near the border with Walloon Brabant. Marc van Nes has converted part of his home into two delightful guest rooms, and has funished them with pieces found at jumble sales or in junk shops, which gives the rooms an old-fashioned charm. Breakfast is taken with the owners and is an opportunity both to get to know them better and also to sample the local specialities, including home-baked bread, jams and gingerbread. To the rear of the house is a luxuriant garden and a terrace with a blue parasol where guests can relax in the warmer months.
