WHO ARE WE ?
A creative and unusual approach
Les Editions de l'Octogone is part of a movement that includes creative “artisan” publishers, in search of new and original subjects and always ready to take on new projects. The company is led by a small and flexible team which works alongside selected collaborators : writers, translators, photographers, cartographers, graphic designers, photo-engravers, printers, distributors, press agents and other advisors.
A cultural slant to tourist guidebooks
Les Editions de l'Octogone is mainly focused on publishing tourist guidebooks oriented towards culture. Guidebooks which are off the beaten track, as much by their themes as by their quality, as by their selection of the expert (or experts) in a particular field. They respond to a (focussed) requirement for something in addition to classic tourist guidebooks. They are grouped into three collections: “Detours”, “Literary Visits” and “Belgian Nature Reserves and Parks”.
Benchmarks in their fields
Today, les Editions de l’Octogone are best known for their flagship titles, including the guidebook to Charming Bed & Breakfasts in Belgium, France and the Netherlands which has been of major assistance in the development of this new form of guest accommodation that is greatly appreciated by the guests. There is also 200 Traditional Recipes that is now in its fourth reprint. The publishing house is also well known in the cultural field, with titles such as Modern Architecture in Brussels and Contemporary Architecture in Belgium, which have become benchmarks against which other architectural guides are measured. There is also the charming collection of eight literary guides which allow readers to follow in famous authors’ footsteps across Belgian cities and regions.
Some Fine Art books
Another facet of Les Editions de L’Octogone is the range of fine photography books with original texts written by famous authors and inspired by the unusual photographs on poetic or documentary themes. The collection includes evocative titles such as Bark, The last planters of the Semois, Chip shacks and Urban landscapes of Brussels.
Custom-made
Les Editions de l'Octogone also produces “custom-made” books for cultural or tourist organisations as part of a consultancy service that starts with the concept and includes every step of the production process, working with selected partners.
