Bed and breakfast
In the midst of a well-known tourist region, the Domaine de la Rhue is a few minutes' drive from Rocamadur, in the Causses de Quercy Regional Nature Reserve. Located between the Rivers Lot and Dordogne, this charming house is an excellent base from which to discover some of the most remarkable tourist attractions in France: Collonges-la-Rouge, Loubressac and Turenne, two of the "Most Beautiful Villages in France", the abyss of Padirac and the Lascaux caves, Sarlat and other places which blend exceptional architecture and gastronomy. The handsome house is surrounded by a 40-hectare farm that has been owned by the Jooris family since 1975. The nineteenth-century stables have been very tastefully converted to a B&B, with two huge, comfortable rooms on the ground floor. With a nod to the horses who used to live here, the four guest bedrooms and suite upstairs have names such as "Alezane Miroitée". They are spacious, with king-sized double beds or twin beds, and each have a large private bathroom which adds to the sense of luxury. All overlook the countryside to the East, South or West (there are stunning sunsets here). Guests are reluctant to leave the Domaine de la Rhue, so warm and spontaneous is the welcome of the owners of this exceptional place.
